Steven E Stawnychy (1957 - 1975), died at age 18 years

Steven E. Stawnychy, a young recruit who served in the U.S. Navy from May to June 1975, tragically met his end just outside the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Born on May 15, 1957, in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in Ramsey County, Minnesota. According to a website called Save Our Servicemembers, Stawnychy was deeply unhappy and depressed during his time in the Navy. The website claims that the Navy's lack of support and care was a significant factor in his despair. It alleges that he faced abuse and neglect from his superiors and peers, disrupted a military drill, went AWOL, and was assaulted and battered by three marine guards while in the brig. The despondent Stawnychy, who had threatened suicide before, ultimately took his own life by stepping in front of a passenger train. The website asserts that the Navy did nothing to help him. Stawnychy died on June 3, 1975; he is buried at Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. His grave marker has a cross and the inscription “Beloved Son and Brother.” He was 18 years old when he died., , In Memory of Steven E Stawnychy. Personal Death record and Detailed information about the deceased person.

Luther Warren Birt  (1921 - 1982), died at age 61 years

Dad was a loving brother to his sisters, a providing Father, but also an abusive and violent Father. His first family where he had four daughters ended in divorce. I was told that one of his daughters had contemplated killing him, but never did because of lack of courage and fear of him. He was married a second time and had one son who is writing this. His son did not lack courage and was fearless when he came of age. Events such as riding in the front seat with him where dangerous due to getting hit if you spoke up. He busted up so many items that a boy owned, burned items in the trash, took a sledgehammer to a boy's bicycle, stepped on tape recorders, broke radios that the son had bought with snow shoveling money. Running off friends and girl friends were done. Whipping the back with a belt, sometimes with the buckle end, hiding under the bed while being jabbed at blindly with a broom handle. Even being chased around with a pistol was not beyond his doctrine of abuse. He showed his only son no affection only abuse until his son turned 16 and decided his own fate. There is a Precedent Law that was created due to his son's deed. Not by the deed alone, but because of his son's accomplishments and his communication with the presiding Judge in the case because in Preble County Ohio the juvenile judge was the same as the probate judge. The same man that I wrote to every month while incarcerated during my later teenage years. Thereafter, going to college and opening several businesses, and becoming highly successful. Never regretting anything. The legacy can be found
